The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Voice Displeasure Over Sizing Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Backlash
Countless users and merchants have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category than originally posted due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to check their listings and manually change the size when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Modifications
Before the change, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Stories
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
A different member, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she explained.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.
It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: earlier, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options after backlash from users.
